Throughout 2021 Briggs Equipment has been busy fundraising for its charity partner Prostate Cancer UK. Despite the challenging circumstances imposed by the pandemic and subsequent lockdown restrictions, we have successfully raised £67,740 for this tremendously important cause.
Raising funds for Prostate Cancer UK has come in a variety of forms over the past year, from getting crafty to recreate the famous Prostate Cancer man, to the many Briggs people who enthusiastically took on the Movember challenge.
March saw Team Briggs get active to take part in the phenomenal March the Month, which involved participants walking at least 11,000 steps every day, resulting in a grand total of 22,811,917 steps and 9,000 miles covered, with £36,000 raised. Not only was March the Month the most successful charity event ever held by Briggs Equipment, but Team Briggs also had the highest national March the Month step count and amount of funds raised. Another sporting success took place in September, with Toni Collier completing an Ultra Marathon and raising £1,500 in the process!
The Briggs Equipment Customer Engagement Event held at Whilton Mill Karting Track also helped to raise £5,000 for Prostate Cancer UK. The event was a day full of fast-paced racing action, overseen by Briggs Equipment’s sponsored British Touring Car Championship driver, Árón Taylor-Smith who was on-hand to provide expert racing tips to participants and assist with fundraising efforts.
A fantastic year of fundraising activity was wrapped up with the Briggs Christmas Raffle, which saw a total of £3,589 raised by the Charity Team and hopeful raffle ticket buyers hoping to win some of the amazing prizes.
Esther Speck from Briggs Equipment’s Charity Team, commented: “We are thrilled that the team have delivered such commitment and generosity to raise an incredible amount for Prostate Cancer UK. The funds raised will go towards groundbreaking research with the aim of finding better treatments and tests for prostate cancer to save thousands of lives, as well as improving care and welfare.
“A huge thank you to everyone who got involved throughout the year and helped us achieve such a fantastic fundraising total.”
Jake Maloney-Cox, Corporate Partnerships Executive at Prostate Cancer UK, commented: “We were delighted to team up with Briggs Equipment in 2021. Team Briggs embraced so many challenges during the year, raising a staggering amount of money in the process. That amazing sum will help fund lifesaving research into the most common cancer in men.
“We thank every employee who took part in an event, sponsored a colleague or attended an awareness talk. Everyone involved stands with us to make prostate cancer something that the next generation of men do not fear.
“Over the past year we invested £6 million into lifesaving research, our specialist nurses received almost 15,000 contacts and our printed publications were distributed to over 150,000 people. Without the terrific support of organisations like Briggs Equipment, none of this would be possible.”
